Rebranding of DKP and DIAC reinforces the next phase of growth for the UAE’s Higher Education and HR sectors

Dubai, UAE:  TECOM Group today outlined the future of the UAE’s higher education and human capital sector and the role it plays in delivering the country’s innovation strategy. TECOM also underlined its commitment to establishing Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) and Dubai Knowledge Park (DKP), formerly Dubai Knowledge Village, as international destinations for learning and HR excellence.

Commenting on the role of innovation in higher education and human capital, Mohammed Abdullah, Managing Director of DIAC and DKP, said: “Our reputation as a community that actively supports our business partners, creating both inspirational graduates and an innovative, adaptable workforce, has received world-wide recognition and we are delighted to enter the next phase of our journey.

I look forward to encouraging and promoting innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship within the worlds of Academia and HR.  Inspired by the vision of our leader His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, we believe the pursuit of excellence in education is a journey, not a destination.”

At an event held at The One & Only Royal Mirage, the new identities of Dubai Knowledge Village, renamed Dubai Knowledge Park (DKP) and Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) were introduced. Both brands reflect growing communities in line with our evolving businesses and enabling Innovation strategy.

The event attracted an audience of industry leaders, key business partners and high profile professionals from various government entities. Commenting on the support that DIAC provides to its partners, Dr. Kota Reddy, Academic President of Manipal University, Dubai said: “DIAC has enabled us to execute our vision of bringing high quality education at an affordable cost to the UAE. We value our partnership with DIAC which has helped us to grow into a leading multi-disciplinary university in the Middle East Region. We are located in the heart of the higher education ecosystem of Dubai and thanks to DIAC, we are able to deliver the true university experience to our learners here in the UAE, akin to what we deliver back in India, our home campus.”

Sunjeh Raja, Director & CEO of International Centre for Culinary Arts, also commented saying: “We have always found the DKP management team to be open and supportive at every step of our growth. The continued growth and establishment of the International Centre for Culinary Arts – ICCA Dubai, as a World Class Centre for Culinary Excellence of International Repute, is a testimony to their vision to make DKP as a Hub of Learning Excellence.”

Since its inauguration in 2003, DKP has become a premier destination in the region dedicated to Vocational Training, Human Resource Management, Executive Search and Professional Development. Similarly, DIAC, established in 2007, is the world’s largest Free Zone dedicated to Higher Education, with 25 multi-tiered higher education institutions, catering to more than 25,000 students from 145 nationalities.

Accounting for over 600 business partners, the DIAC and DKP communities continue to grow. By introducing a mix of academic, vocational and research-led courses from academic institutions that are internationally accredited and by targeting both local and transnational students, DIAC has positioned Dubai as the leading global education hub. Continuing to develop the region’s talent pool, DKP has gained its status as a trusted business partner and a centre of excellence for professional development by working with industry leaders like Dinar Standard, Harvard Business Publishing, and EFQM.

Reflecting on the history of the education communities, Mr. Abdullah said:  “We are extremely proud of the many successes we have enjoyed over the past 13 years. Each milestone has contributed to our vision of transforming Dubai into a knowledge-based economy and developing the region’s talent pool. Looking forward, we aim to play a major role towards achieving the vision of transforming Dubai to innovation led economy”
