Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) Board of Directors Announced and Dr. Amina Al Rustamani Named President

Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, Group CEO – TECOM Group, as President of DIDI, the first private not-for-profit design university in the region that was established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Board of Directors has also been appointed, comprising a multi-disciplinary team of industry experts in order to ensure a seamless student academic journey.

The DIDI Board of Directors is chaired by Fadel Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Holding, and include the following members:

  • Amina Al Rustamani, Group CEO – TECOM Group
  • Ali BuRuhaima, Deputy Director General – Dubai Creative Clusters Authority;
  • Ali Jaber, Group TV Director – Middle East Broadcasting Corporation (MBC);
  • Nisha Jagtiani, Director – Landmark Group;
  • Ghassan Harfouche, CEO – Middle East Communications Network (MCN);
  • Silvio Scaglia, Chairman – Pacific Global Management Group

With Dr. Amina serving as President, and the unique and valuable guidance of each of the board members, DIDI will help develop and nurture the talent that will realise the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, of strengthening the UAE’s position as an innovation-led, knowledge-based economy.

DIDI is a strategic partnership between TECOM Group and Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA), and its curriculum will be jointly developed with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and The New School’s Parsons School of Design (Parsons). Located at the heart of the creative community at Dubai Design District (d3), DIDI will offer the region’s first Bachelor of Design degree with cross concentrations in Product Design, Strategic Design Management, Visual Arts, Media and Fashion Design, with the first intake of students planned for Fall 2018.

Her appointment as President of DIDI and of our valued board members will guide the Institute’s pivotal role in transitioning the UAE into an innovative, knowledge-based economy by cultivating the next generation of design leaders”.
