Designers showcased their innovative collections and collaborations on the fourth day of Dubai Fashion Week (DFW), with a special focus on emerging design talent. DFW member Dina Ayad presented her Autumn/Winter collection titled 'Nostalgic Elegance' to a packed audience of global fashion industry professionals. Meanwhile, DFW veteran Reborn impressed with their streetwear showcase titled 'Phoenix Rise.' Sustainability took centre stage with Emergency Room's thought-provoking collection titled 'What Am I To Do With All That Is Left?', along with exciting designer and brand collaborations, marking an eventful penultimate day of Dubai's premier fashion showcase. Co-founded by d3, a member of TECOM Group PJSC, and the Arab Fashion Council, DFW will finish today (8 February) with headline shows by BLSSD, Adolfo Dominguez and Designers & Us.

DIMA AYAD DFW Member Dima Ayad's Autumn/Winter '24 collection took attendees back to the 90s. Warm, earthy tones dominated the catwalk, drawing inspiration from a rich colour palette iconic of the era. The collection combined shades of rich chocolate, caramel tones, and subtle terracotta with brilliant metallic accents for pieces that balance modernity and nostalgia, sophistication and glamour. Luxurious fabrics, feathers, flowing textiles, and intricate embellishments added a tactile element to the collection, with drapery and silhouettes creating movement and drama.

ZEENA ZAKI X TRYANO Esteemed haute couture designer Zeena Zaki teamed up with Tryano, Abu Dhabi's premier destination for luxury shopping, to unveil her Ramadan 2024 collection at the Palazzo Versace. The collection featured an array of flowy fabrics and intricately embroidered pieces, including dresses, caftans, and capes with oversized shoulder designs and a vibrant colour palette ranging from pastel and electric blues to pinks, yellows and rich black, celebrating diversity and femininity. Fashion enthusiasts will be able to purchase pieces seen on the runway, as the collection will be available exclusively at Tryano in Yas Mall until March.

REBORN Reborn Society unveiled its latest collection ‘Phoenix Rise,' an exploration of modern streetwear with urban styling that was both effortless and chic. Inspired by the diversity of streetwear culture, Zeynab El-Helw, the founder of Reborn, conceived the collection as a means for individuals to express themselves creatively. The runway displayed wardrobe staples for men and women that seamlessly transitioned from day to night. The collection ultimately celebrated individuality through street style, making a statement with dark denim washes and oversized silhouettes.

ZEY-YE ZEY-YE's debut collection at DFW reflected the label’s vision and approach to design. The designer explored the creative richness and enduring impact of an ancient civilisation, bringing to life a millennia-old world through design – and with nature playing a significant role in the story. The collection featured flowy designs with belted waists, oversized silhouettes, intricate textiles, and blended colours. Vibrant accessories embodied the brand’s unique and colourful aesthetic, reimagining ancient civilisations for the modern world.

AMERICAN RAG CIE X FAD DUBAI American Rag Cie (ARC) and d3-based fashion university FAD Dubai joined forces to unveil ‘One-Off' – a multi-brand concept spotlighting fashion graduates and emerging designers. Designers from FAD presented avant-garde designs alongside coveted collections from American Rag Cie, carefully styled by the students. The collaboration reflected ARC’s commitment to championing local brands and new talent, fostering innovation, and providing a platform for emerging designers to transition seamlessly from the runway to retail.

EMERGENCY ROOM X NOTHING (R) Beirut-born fashion label Emergency Room partnered with smartphone brand Nothing to demonstrate the intersection of sustainability, technology and fashion for their latest collection, ‘What Am I To Do With All That Is Left?’ Reflecting on challenging times, the show emphasised resilience and creativity in the face of adversity by transforming surplus materials from past collections into new clothes. The show told the packed house a compelling story divided into three parts – past, present and future.

The “past,” set to the melodies of Mashrou' Leila, featured textured fabrics, puffy shapes, feathered hats and colourful materials to evoke nostalgia before the “present” brought a more sombre tone as predominantly black pieces represented collective grief and loss. Chunky wool sweaters were paired with silk pants and skirts, emphasising shape and silhouettes and creating a striking contrast. The "future" segment was themed on hope with an all-white palette, symbolising new beginnings, as models walked the runway carrying products by Nothing.
