Dubai Design District (d3), a member of TECOM Group PJSC, is once again dazzling visitors with a larger-than-life inflatable as part of the citywide Dubai Lights installations, specially commissioned for the annual Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). Marking the Dubai Shopping Festival’s 30th anniversary edition this season, the all-new and enhanced edition of Dubai Lights features ‘Daoun’ at the heart of the global creative ecosystem between Buildings 4 and 6 until 12 January 2025, lighting up in eye-catching hues and patterns every night.

The interactive installation comprises three interconnected inflatable towers ranging from 4.5 to 7 metres tall. Constructed using durable, weather-resistant inflatable material and embedded with dynamic LED lights, Daoun pays homage to the Emirati art of palm frond weaving, known as saaf Nakheel. Used for generations to build homes, roofs and tools, the installation celebrates the ingenuity and resilience of local heritage.

The installation was brought to life by Duette, an independent Dubai-based multidisciplinary creative lab.
