in5 launches permanent fashion and design pop-up store ‘Atypical’ during Dubai Design Week

in5, an enabling platform by TECOM Group PJSC for start-ups and entrepreneurs, is pleased to be launching Atypical, a concept store which will display a variety of products by start-ups and designers based in its design-focused innovation centre. Strategically located in the heart of Dubai Design District (d3), in5 Design is home to innovative design start-ups developing innovative fashion and product designs, many of which will be featured selling their work on a rotating basis, with the pop-up’s launch taking place during Dubai Design Week, which runs from 8-13 November 2022

The aim of the multi-disciplinary facility is to offer a platform to showcase the talent, creations and ingenuity of in5’s entrepreneurs and creative members. In addition to serving as a one-stop-shop for various community projects, Atypical will serve as a cultural hub for the surrounding area by organising events, concerts, and temporary exhibitions. It will also act as a moveable pop-up store to be placed in different events to maximize exposure.

Atypical is debuting its first ever pop-up shop at Downtown Design, the Middle East’s premier fair for high-quality and contemporary design which is organised in strategic partnership with Dubai Design District (d3).

Commenting on the opening of Atypical, Majed Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Media City, said: “We are delighted to provide start-ups yet another platform to present their products, host community-based projects and events, and exhibitions. in5 provides start-ups in design, tech and media access to cost-effective business incubation to sustainably scale their business, hands-on mentorship and advisory and facilitates access to potential investment opportunities. By providing a comprehensive environment for entrepreneurs to get their businesses of the group, in5 aims to inspire the next generation of talent and establish Dubai as the hub for entrepreneurship and creativity. in5 has incubated more than 500 start-ups since its inception.

in5 Design, located in Dubai Design District, offers state-of-the-art creative labs to help entrepreneurs, freelancers and creatives conceptualise and manufacture their products. This includes the Fashion Lab, a boutique production facility that enables fashion designers from design to delivery, as well as a Prototyping Lab which features computer-aided design software and design equipment and machinery, including 3D printers and more, to bring ideas to life.  The incubator offers a unique opportunity for young businesses to join the region’s premier design hub, d3, which is home to renowned global, national, and regional brands and designers.

In the first rotation at Atypical, 11 of in5 design’s start-ups are introducing their products to the public during Downtown Design to maximize their exposure. These brands are:

  1. KDSV Design

The architects and designers at KDSV Design are known as “practical inventors”. Inspiration for them comes from a desire to create environments that have “soul” and “interest,” and which reflect and celebrate the intricacies of the real world.

  1. Achromatic Design Studio

As a Dubai-based architecture and interior design company, Achromatic Design Studio caters to clients across the United Arab Emirates with both commercial and residential projects. Their services also include spatial planning and lighting design consultation.

  1. Stelyx

Incorporating the expertise of the team’s aerospace and structural engineers, Stelyx is a design firm that focuses on “foldable” items that offer innovative storage options.

  1. Neo Architecture

NEO Architecture is the result of a synthesis of Eastern and Western approaches to architecture and design. In order to increase the significance and reach of each project, they foster collaborations with various fields, such as architecture, art, economics, and local governments.

  1. Seen Meem

Suzanne EL Mizari, a prominent figure in the field of interior design in the Middle East, leads the Dubai-based company Seen Meem Interior Design. From concept to completion, their design team is at your service with years of experience in the fields of hospitality, business, and residential interior design.
